Tyreek Hill arresting officer: Danny Torres placed on administrative duty after detaining Dolphins star image

The police officer involved in Tyreek Hill's detainment has been named by the Miami-Dade Police Department.

More details continue to come to light on the incident that occurred outside Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins star wide receiver was en route to his team's season opener against the Jaguars when he was handcuffed during a traffic stop.

The Miami-Dade Police Department placed one of four officers involved in the incident on administrative duty. On Tuesday, the name of that officer was revealed.

Here is what to know about the officer placed on administrative duty after Hill's detainment Sunday.

The officer that detained Hill was Danny Torres, a 27-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police.

The Miami-Dade Police Department announced on the same day as the traffic stop that Torres had been placed on "administrative duties." The department released another statement Tuesday naming Torres.

"Officer Danny Torres, 27-year tenure, remains in administrative duties, as the Internal Affairs investigation is still ongoing," the Miami-Dade Police said in a statement. "We will provide further information once it becomes available pending the outcome of the investigation."

When told an officer was placed on leave, Hill said after Sunday's game: "That tells you all you need to know."

Torres' attorneys, Ignacio Alvarez and Israel Reyes, issued a statement Monday, calling for their client's "immediate reinstatement." At the time of their statement, the name of the officer remained undisclosed.

"We urge all parties to refrain from making public statements that may misrepresent our client's actions and mislead the public about Mr. Hill's detainment," Alvarez said in the statement.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, called for Torres and the other officers involved in his client's detainment to be fired from their positions.

"For me, personally, I believe the police officers that did that to Tyreek shouldn't be in that position — they should be let go," Rosenhaus said during an appearance on "The Dan Le Batard Show" on Tuesday.

"Look at the guy who kicked him. That guy should be fired. That's out of control. The guy that jumped in and put him in a chokehold? There's no place for a police officer to have a badge that operates like that, when Tyreek wasn't being aggressive, or violent or fighting back in any capacity.

"That was horrendous how they treated him. They didn't treat him like a human being."

Torres' legal team contacted Hill in an attempt to apologize, the Dolphins star said, but the request was denied.

Hill's attorney formally called for officer Danny Torres to be fired days after the incident, calling Torres' actions "excessive, escalating, and reckless."

Hill confirmed he wants Torres "gone" from the police department while speaking to reporters on Wednesday.

Why did Tyreek Hill get detained?

Hill was officially cited for careless driving and a seatbelt violation after reportedly speeding on his way to Hard Rock Stadium. The police citation revealed he was going an "estimated 60 mph," according to a "visual estimation."

The South Florida Police Benevolent Association released more details in a statement Monday, clarifying that Hill was never under arrest but rather "briefly detained for officer safety."

The police union claimed Hill was "not immediately cooperative with the officers on scene" after being pulled over for "driving in a manner in which he was putting himself and others in great risk of danger."

Video captured officers handcuffing Hill and placing him on the ground, where one officer at one point had his knee on the receiver's back. Other Dolphins players came to the scene to help Hill, and defensive lineman Calais Campbell was handcuffed as well at one point but not charged.
