Tom Brady's attempted kick at a Falcons' defensive lineman has drawn a fine from the NFL.
The league notified Brady on Friday that he is being fined $11,139 for kicking out at Atlanta's Grady Jarrett during Sunday's game in Tampa Bay, per ESPN.
The kick happened immediately after Brady was slung to the ground by Jarrett late in the fourth quarter. The play drew a very controversial roughing the passer penalty that gave the Buccaneers a first down and helped them run down the clock in an eventual win.

Jarrett received an automatic fine of $15,000 for his roughing the passer penalty on the same play, in accordance with NFL rules. That's $3,861 more than the fine Brady received.

Brady's fine of $11,139 is also specified within the rulebook for the first offense of a player striking, kicking or kneeing an opponent. If he does it again this season, he'll face a second fine of $16,444.
It's the first time the seven-time Super Bowl winner has been fined by the NFL since January 2013, when he appeared to kick Baltimore's Ed Reed while sliding to the turf during the AFC Championship. That play cost him $10,000 after the league deemed it unnecessary roughness.
