Texans new uniforms: CEO Cal McNair posts preview of Houston's new threads after leak image

The Texans have long made it clear they were planning to have a fresh look in 2024, and the timing couldn't be any better.

Houston will enter the 2024 season with high expectations for the first time since the Deshaun Watson era after a surprising run to the divisional round in '23. C.J. Stroud is the Texans' franchise quarterback, DeMeco Ryans certainly appears to be the organization's long-term head coach, and the team seems poised to compete for the AFC title if the Chiefs ever relinquish that spot.

Now, the Texans will start anew with their first major uniform change since they began play in 2002. There's just one problem: the look was leaked before Houston had a chance to formally reveal its new set of uniforms. CEO Cal McNair took the leak in stride, however, and calmed fans' nerves with a preview of his own.

Here's what you need to know about the Texans' new uniforms for 2024.

Texans new uniform leak

The Texans' new white uniform leaked on Monday, giving fans a first look at a change that has been anticipated for some time. The jersey received mixed reviews at best, however, thanks to its oversized numbers and odd fit.

Some compared the uniform to the Falcons' white jersey, which also features large numbers along with a similar font and red lettering just above.

The uniform notably features horns on the players' shoulders, providing a unique aspect to a jersey many fans felt was generic.

McNair took to Reddit himself to share a preview of the Texans' uniforms, and the image — featuring Nico Collins and Tank Dell — sure looks like a better angle than the initial leak. The numbers appear smaller and better aligned, which prompted relief among fans in the comment section.

"These look MUCH better here," one fan said, while others were shocked to see McNair himself posted the photo.

The Texans won't be changing their logo or helmet as part of the redesign, as they announced in 2023. That doesn't mean Houston won't have a much different look in '24, and McNair's post is the first window into what the Texans' collection of budding stars will be wearing for the foreseeable future.

The franchise is planning to reveal the complete uniform set in April unless a leaker can force McNair's hand again.
