Some people will do anything for attention. And two men decided during Super Bowl 58 that they needed to take eyes away from the game.

Midplay in the third quarter, a pair of men ran onto the field without shirts, one in white pants and one in black pants. Both were tackled quickly by security and escorted out of the stadium.

Perhaps the biggest problem was that the two decided to run during the middle of a play by the Chiefs, when Patrick Mahomes connected with Mecole Hardman for two yards to the San Francisco 39.

Officials wound up deciding to allow the play to stand, deeming that the on-field disturbance did not wind up disrupting the play. The two streakers were brought down deep in Kansas City territory on the opposite side of the field.

CBS announcers Jim Nantz and Tony Romo briefly mentioned the streakers briefly, but did not discuss the incident much.

What happens to streakers after they run on the field?

The NFL has plenty of security in the Super Bowl, though evidently not enough to stop these two from reaching the field. But the punishment should be severe. In the 2021 Super Bowl, a man ran onto the field and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and a year of probation.

It's safe to say these streakers can expect similarly heavy penalties.
