Ravens preseason win streak: Inside Baltimore's stunning unbeaten record since 2016 image

Preseason games don't count towards the standings, but don't tell that to the Ravens.

Winning 24 consecutive regular seasons seems impossible, but 24 consecutive preseason wins might be even more difficult. With a different set of players in seemingly every half of preseason football and the unpredictability that comes with using games to evaluate players, teams can't often establish a rhythm in August.

Preseason success doesn't necessarily correlate to regular season success. As an example, the two teams to post a winless season since the schedule expanded to 16 games (2008 Lions and 2017 Browns) both went undefeated in the preseason.

It's clear, however, that John Harbaugh has built quite a culture in Baltimore.

Here's a closer look at the Ravens' historic preseason win streak as they look to extend it in 2023:

Ravens preseason win streak

The Ravens' last defeat in the preseason was on Sept. 3, 2015. They dropped their final game of the preseason in a one-point loss in Atlanta, part of a 1-3 record. They haven't lost a preseason game since.

The streak began with an Aug. 10, 2016 win over the Panthers in the preseason opener. The stretch includes 13 wins by 10 or more points and features five different wins over Washington.

Baltimore has sustained its streak despite a few challenges, including a five-game preseason in 2018 thanks to the Hall of Fame Game and a full year without a preseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Longest NFL preseason win streaks

The NFL has not kept a complete record of the longest preseason win streaks, but the league considers the Ravens' streak the longest in history.

A 19-game preseason win streak by the Packers, which spanned from 1959-1962, stands as the second-longest in NFL history.

The second-longest active streak belonged to the Bills, who won 10 consecutive preseason games from 2018 through the final preseason game ahead of the 2022 season, a 21-0 loss to the Panthers. That's an impressive stretch, one that has translated to the regular season, but the 14-game gap between Buffalo's former streak and Baltimore's shows how dominant the Ravens have been in exhibition games.

Ravens preseason schedule 2023

The Ravens will put their preseason streak to the test against the Eagles on Aug. 12, before road matchups with the Commanders and the Buccaneers.
