It's been a long time coming but NFL fans around the world can rejoice as the action finally returns with the Kansas City Chiefs facing the Detroit Lions in the opening match of the 2023 season.
As usual, the season will begin with 'Thursday Night Football' which sees the reigning Super Bowl champions host the Lions in the season opener at Arrowhead Stadium.
It should prove to be an enthralling match up to say the least with Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and the impressive looking Lions offence sure to put plenty of points on the board in this season opener.
The matchup on the sidelines between the well-respected Andy Reid and the player-friendly, kneecap-biting Dan Campbell will also be fascinating to watch. Campbell tends to lean into aggressive play-calling, while Reid has been surprisingly conservative with the Chiefs to date, so that clash could stand out in this game.
Can the Chiefs begin their title defence in style or will the Lions take their first win of the season as they look to win the NFC North division for the first time since 2016? We give you all the details to catch the action in the UK below.

NFL schedule Week 1
The Chiefs vs. Lions contest will kick off the NFL season in Week 1 and it is expected to be a high-scoring contest thanks to the presence of Patrick Mahomes and a rock-solid Detroit offense. It also should be a good barometer for the Lions as they enter the season with expectations of winning the NFC North.
The other two prime-time games this week are divisional clashes between playoff hopefuls. The Giants will host the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, and the Bills and Jets will square off on Monday Night Football. The Jets will be the team to watch among that quartet, as many will be interested to see how Aaron Rodgers fares in his first season in New York.
Among the most notable games Sunday afternoon will be Jordan Love's debut as the Packers' full-time starter. He'll face the Bears, a team Rodgers used to dominate. The reigning NFC-champion Eagles will also be in action as they face the Patriots in a Super Bowl 52 rematch.
And, of course, three rookie NFL quarterbacks will make their debuts, as well. Bryce Young's Panthers will play the Falcons, C.J. Stroud's Texans will face the Ravens and Anthony Richardson's Colts will play the Jaguars. Fans will look forward to seeing which of those players enjoys the best start to their NFL career.
