Is Matty Ice putting his NFL career on ice?
Former Falcons and Colts quarterback Matt Ryan announced on Monday that he will be joining the NFL on CBS as a studio and game analyst. Following the conclusion of the Colts' season, the 15-year veteran shifted over to the CBS studio for the NFL playoffs — earning praise for his work.
In February, the New York Post's Andrew Marchand reported that Ryan could be looking for a move to broadcasting if no other team came calling for his services. With the NFL Draft and free agency now in the rearview mirror, the free agent Ryan decided to lock in a spot on a different roster for the 2023 season.

The news has raised questions as to whether Ryan has officially retired. The Sporting News answers that question.
Is Matt Ryan retired?
The ink has barely dried on Ryan's move to CBS and he's already indicating he'll have a wandering eye. The 2016 NFL MVP isn't married to keeping the door closed or the cleats hanging on the wall.
Instead, he did just the opposite. Ryan said (with a wink) in his CBS announcement tweet that this is, "not a retirement post."
Excited to join the @NFLonCBS family! Looking forward to breaking down the game this season.

That means Ryan — and CBS — will be answering questions on the topic with every big quarterback injury that occurs in 2023. If the right team comes calling, Ryan will be answering.

Ryan said in the CBS press release:
“It is truly an honor to join this exceptional team at CBS Sports,” said Ryan. “I have been blessed to have incredible teammates throughout my career and I am fortunate that will continue here working with and learning from the very best in the industry.”
For now, it appears that No. 2 is going to keep CBS as his No. 2 option, at least for the foreseeable future.
