This year's "Battle of the Beltway" between the Ravens and the Commanders proved an eye-catching affair. For the first time in what seems like millennia, both Baltimore and Washington possessed gifted passers — reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and rookie phenom Jayden Daniels.

Jackson and Daniels represent a new -age of hurler — multifaceted talents equally adept at launching bolts down the field and mystifying opposition in the open field.

Sunday's matchup offered viewers a window into the game of the present and future. They were not left disappointed, either.

With that, The Sporting News fills you in on the numbers behind Daniels and Jackson's duel underneath the Charm City sun.

Lamar Jackson vs. Jayden Daniels stats Week 6

Jackson and Daniels enjoyed quite the quarterbacking duel on Sunday afternoon. Both archers embraced their reputations as dual-threat dynamos, letting loose via air and ground to leave defenders befuddled.

Jackson tallied more yards on the day, finishing the contest with 323 passing yards compared to 269 for Daniels. He also was the more efficient hurler, completing 20 of his 26 pass attempts, better than Daniels' 24-for-35 mark.

Baltimore's sidewinder did have a blemish on his stat line courtesy of a first-quarter interception, but that moment wasn't of Jackson's making. Rather, the miscue came from a Mark Andrews drop.

Daniels was similarly effective, racking up two touchdowns on the day, one more than Jackson. He had a handful of impressive moments, none more than a fourth-quarter dart to Terry McLaurin on fourth-and-goal.

Lamar Jackson vs. Jayden Daniels highlights from Week 6 duel

Jackson and Daniels came to life when matched up with one another. Jackson was the first to erupt, forming a formidable partnership with No. 1 wideout Zay Flowers early. Flowers turned a screen play into a 44-yard gain in the game's opening moments, a sign of things to come for both pitcher and catcher.

Not one to be outdone, Daniels soon found his rhythm, slipping passes beyond detection to the likes of Terry McLaurin, Noah Brown and Zach Ertz.

It was with McLaurin that Daniels had his most success. He tossed two touchdown passes to the four-time 1,000-yard wideout, both of which could be classed as impressive tosses.

Jackson offered his own form of rebuttal, firing a flechette of his own to Andrews

In addition to his passing prowess, Jackson also showcased his dizzying talents with his legs. Possessing footwork that would look at home in an Alvin Ailey dance number, Jackson raced down the sideline for a 33-yard gain in the third quarter.
