Bears fans are holding their breath in regards to their franchise quarterback.

Chicago quarterback Justin Fields left the team's game against the Vikings in the third quarter, leaving backup Tyson Bagent to lead the team in his absence.

Fields was sacked by Minnesota defensive end Danielle Hunter 10:43 to go in the third quarter. He was looked at on the sidelines in the medical tent before emerging and trekking to the locker room.

With Fields unavailable, Bagent finished the game for Chicago, getting his first career snaps in the regular season. The Bears lost to the Vikings, dropping to 0-3 at Soldier Field this season.

Here is the latest on Fields' injury:

How long is Justin Fields out?

Bear head coach Matt Eberflus said that Fields has a dislocated thumb. There is currently no timeline for his return and he is "doubtful" that Fields plays in Week 8.

This is in line with reporting from Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, who earlier reported that Fields suffered a dislocated thumb. The Bears' medical staff was able to pop the thumb back into place but he couldn't grip the ball after the injury.
