There have been a handful of quarterbacks go through mid-career, long-hair phases. Tom Brady had such a phase in 2010. Aaron Rodgers just recently cut his hair back shorter.

Has Joe Burrow become the latest to join the trend? A viral photo of the quarterback would certainly appear to indicate he has grown out his locks.

The image has been making the rounds on social media as football fans wonder if Burrow has entered his Anakin Skywalker era. The quarterback has often drawn praise for his lettuce, but the new look has been met with mixed reactions, to say the least.

Is the haircut photo real? Here's what you need to know.

Based on everything Sporting News can find, Burrow does not appear to have a new haircut. Burrow is wearing a hat while throwing passes to rookie wide receiver Jermaine Burton in a video posted on May 20 by the Bengals' X (formerly Twitter) account, but that would be a fair amount of hair to tuck under a cap.

Another post from May 16, four days before the photo went viral, showed Burrow still with his shorter hair.

Unless Burrow found some miracle hair growth formula — or is wearing a wig — he probably has no way to grow out that much hair in only a handful of days.

The good news for Burrow: If he ever wonders what it would be like to grow out his hair, he now has an image to consider for his appearance.
