The Cowboys have finally found a signature win.
Since their dynastic run of the 1990s, Jerry Jones' Cowboys squads have been a bit devoid of playoff success. With that comes fewer memorable victories. However, the Dallas owner is taking great pride in their last victory of the 2022 NFL season: a playoff win over Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
With the passer announcing his retirement (again), that matchup turned out to be the last of Brady's storied career. That's a point that's going to stick with Jones for a long, long time:

"I'm proud of that win. I'm going to hold that Tampa Bay win up just like I do that Herschel Walker ball when we won one game that first year (in 1989), and that was my prize," Jones said. "We're proud of that win — he has been outstanding."
Jones is referring to his first full season as team owner in 1989, when the Cowboys won a single game, 13-3 over Washington.
This year, the Cowboys advanced to the NFC divisional round where they were handed a 19-12 loss to the 49ers.
There are a few ways you can interpret Jones' quote: One is that he's taking a facetious approach to the win, a side-eye sarcastic remark to the playoff victory, giving Brady a bit of a backhanded compliment.
Another is that he's legitimately proud (and slightly petty) in sending Brady to the retirement home with a playoff loss. The win robbed us all of a storybook, Hollywood ending for the greatest player in NFL history — and one of the greatest athletes in sports history.
Whichever the case, surely people won't rag on good ol' Jerrah and his stance here.
