On the day before the NFL's legal tampering period of free agency is set to begin, the Dolphins made an early move for a big fish.
Miami agreed to a deal with the Rams that will send All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the City of Angels to South Beach, multiple outlets reported.
With the Rams now seemingly in teardown mode, the team is shedding salary and looking to stockpile draft picks -- which is a change in strategy from what GM Les Snead is accustomed to.
"F them picks" was synonymous with the Rams style of team-building, culminating in a Super Bowl victory in 2022. Coming off a 5-12 season with an aging roster can certainly change a team's mind, though. Snead mentioned the team will be "pumping the brakes" on that strategy this offseason as the Rams look to retool the roster.
"Well maybe in the past we've used draft capital to maybe go get a veteran player knowing that veteran player's going to cost a certain amount, we could actually fit him under our cap situation," Snead said recently. "So with that being said, in this situation, maybe you don't use draft capital to get a veteran player, but instead you use draft capital to draft, let's call it, normal rookies."

While the Rams shift into something resembling more of a rebuild, the Dolphins are now looking to become the new "F them picks" team. They've already brought in a new defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, to pair with the offensive-minded head coach Mike McDaniel and are continuing to acquire star talent on defense.
Miami already dealt away a 2023 first-round pick for pass rusher Bradley Chubb prior to the trade deadline. They traded last year's first-round pick and more for star receiver Tyreek Hill last offseason. Ramsey becomes the just the latest in a series of all-in moves from the Dolphins.
Here are the full details of the blockbuster trade between the Rams and Dolphins, which cannot become official until Wednesday.

Just a few years ago, Ramsey was worth two firsts and fourth-round pick to the Rams in their pursuit of a Lombardi Trophy. Four years later, Los Angeles essentially performed a salary dump-style trade.
In a big hit to the "salary cap isn't real" crowd, the Rams are reportedly listening to offers on many of their high-priced veterans and already parted ways with linebacker Bobby Wagner -- just to get under the cap.
Ramsey has 19 interceptions, seven forced fumbles and two sacks in seven seasons, while being named first-team All Pro in the 2017, 2020 and 2021. He will join another former All-Pro Xavien Howard in Miami and replace Byron Jones, who is being released. The deal comes after the Dolphins restructured contracts -- Hill, Chubb and Terron Armstead -- to clear space for the move.
As part of the trade, Ramsey will have his 2023 and 2024 salaries fully guaranteed that will pay him an additional $25 million.

Miami now has only four picks in the 2023 NFL Draft as a result of the trades they made to bring in veteran talent. They also forfeited their own first- and third-round picks this season, due to violating the league's tampering guidelines.
