Colorado coach Deion Sanders gets stamp of approval from Tom Brady, Sean Payton: 'He'll do a fantastic job' image

New Colorado coach Deion Sanders got two of the best recommendations money can buy this week.

Speaking on the "Let's Go!" podcast with Jim Gray, Tom Brady and Sean Payton passed on words of encouragement to the Buffs' newest tactician, indicating that they felt he'd be a big hit in Boulder.

The pair of gridiron luminaries have had more than their fair share of interactions with the Pro Football Hall of Famer. Those experiences, coupled with Sanders' sparkling time at Jackson State, leave Brady and Payton confident that Sanders has what it takes to get the Buffs back on track.

"For anyone who loves the sport of football, the more people that are in it that have great expertise and knowledge, that understand why the games are won or loss, that are going to bring enthusiasm to it," Brady said, "the better it is for the sport."

Sanders earned plaudits for his recruiting chops during his time with the Tigers, bringing in a host of blue chip prospects, including five-star Travis Hunter and his son, Shedeur. Payton believes that bargaining power will only blossom in the Mile High State.

"If he was recruiting at Jackson State, making a difference," Payton said, "man Colorado, it's not too long ago when they had a number of teams [competing]."

The Buffs famously captured the 1990 BCS National Championship under Bill McCartney's helm. The 1990s turned out to be a rather fruitful period for CU, who reeled off four 10-wins seasons in the decade.

And although it's been quite some time since the Buffs achieved national prominence, he's certainly bagged support from two of the game's greatest minds.

"I love seeing everything that Deion's accomplished," Brady said. "There's no bigger fan of him than me, and I'll be pulling for his team, no doubt."

"I think it’s a great hire for Colorado. I think everyone else in the conference is on notice," Payton said.
