Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph has talked to police in connection with a homicide in the Dallas area last March.

Investigators interviewed Joseph on Friday after terming him a person of interest in the shooting death of 20-year-old Cameron Ray. Dallas police on Saturday arrested Tivione English, 21, and Aries Jones, 28, on murder charges in the case.

Joseph has not been arrested and police have not said whether they will try to charge him, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Police said the fatal shots were fired from an SUV that had rolled up to Ray and some of his friends following a fight between groups outside a Dallas nightclub. Per The Morning News, that surveillance video shows Joseph taking part in the fight. Ray was struck in the head and later died at a local hospital, police said.

Joseph's attorney, Barry Sorrels, said that his client was a passenger in the SUV but did not shoot Ray.

"Mr. Ray’s death is a tragedy, and Kelvin extends his deepest condolences for the family’s loss," Sorrels said (via the Dallas Morning News). "On the night of March 17, Kelvin was unarmed and was not looking for violence. He found himself in a situation that escalated without his knowledge or consent."

The Cowboys and the NFL said that they are aware of the situation. The team said that it was cooperating with law enforcement. The league said it will investigate the matter.

Joseph is entering his second season out of LSU.
