Chiefs Super Bowl parade highlights: Best moments as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce pledge to 'run it back' image

The Chiefs took their Super Bowl 57 celebration to downtown Kansas City on Wednesday, and what a celebration it was.

Fans filled the streets, some of them arriving before sunrise, and made Union Station a sea of red as Patrick Mahomes and the team took the Lombardi Trophy for a stroll down Grand Blvd.

The Chiefs weren't short on confidence. Mahomes had plenty of beer, Travis Kelce got the crowd fired up as he pledged to "run it back" next season, and members of the offensive line wore shirts touting the zero sacks they allowed in Super Bowl 57.

Chiefs players seemed to spend more time on the ground walking the parade route than they did riding the buses, with many of the first-time champions on the team bringing the trophy up close to the fans. All day, players made it clear they fed off the doubters on their journey to a championship.

When the Chiefs held their victory rally at Union Station, one message stood out above all: They expect to be back here next year.

Kansas City has a target on its back once again, but Brett Veach and Andy Reid have built a roster and system build to withstand that kind of pressure.

Chiefs Super Bowl parade live updates, best moments

(All times Eastern.)

3:35 p.m. — The victory rally has wrapped up. One message is clear: This team expects to be back here next year. The Chiefs will have a target on their back in 2023, but they're the class of the NFL until proven otherwise.

3:28 p.m. — "I have three words for you," Chris Jones says as he grabs the mic. "Run it back! Run it back!"

3:27 p.m. — Travis Kelce, confident as always. After a call-and-response touting Mahomes' MVP and the Chiefs' success, he says he's ready to be back here next year.

3:24 p.m. — Travis Kelce: "The haters were saying the Chiefs weren't gonna make the playoffs."

3:23 p.m. — Nick Bolton says he'll see everyone at Union Station again next year. Both Mahomes and Bolton have said they expect to be back here in a year.

3:21 p.m. — Mahomes has taken the stage. He (incorrectly) says the Chiefs won the Super Bowl during their rebuilding year and says, "we ain't done yet!"

3:19 p.m. — Andy Reid only made brief remarks on the stage, but he made sure to call Kansas City the best city in America.

3:13 p.m. — Move over, Eagles fans: One Chiefs fan is perched atop a traffic light pole to see the parade. I'll admit finding him is like searching for Waldo, but he's up there.

3:05 p.m. — Chants of "Andy! Andy! Andy!" as Hunt praises Andy Reid.

3:00 p.m. — Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has taken the stage at the victory rally, calling out the "so-called experts" who said Kansas City would regress. Hunt says some believed the Chiefs would be lucky to make the playoffs, which is where the underdog argument starts leaving reality.

2:53 p.m. — TechN9ne got the victory rally started with "Red Kingdom." He called it the biggest crowd he's ever performed for.

2:41 p.m. — We're getting very close to the Chiefs' victory rally. Travis Kelce's speech will be must-watch.

2:34 p.m. — That's Matt Nagy helping Patrick Mahomes keep his balance on the bus.

2:32 p.m. — The goggles are on and the beer is out for Patrick Mahomes.

2:19 p.m. — Orlando Brown with a nice reminder for Brett Veach before his contract expires next month.

2:18 p.m. — The Chiefs' offensive line is taking a well-deserved victory lap today.

2:02 p.m. — Two-time champion Derrick Nnadi rocking the Lombardi Trophy to sleep along the parade route.

1:56 p.m. — Mahomes with a similar look to his first parade. Will he get a third next February?

1:44 p.m. — Orlando Brown is decked out in a fur coat with a Bud Light in hand. He's out walking the parade route along with Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, and others.

1:39 p.m. — What do we think Andy Reid is eating after this?

1:29 p.m. — Mahomes is wearing a WWE belt, has goggles on the side of his head, and is carrying his MVP trophy along the parade route.

1:24 p.m. — Look who made it out to the celebration? Jamaal Charles was one of the faces of the Chiefs before the Mahomes era, and it looks like he's still a fan favorite.

1:02 p.m. — Super Bowl 57 's biggest celebrity, Donna Kelce, is aboard Travis' float.

12:59 p.m. — Mahomes is ready!

12:49 p.m. — Kansas City is on the Missouri side of the Kansas-Missouri border, but Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly is in attendance today to celebrate the Chiefs.

12:13 p.m. — Kansas City always shows up for a parade. This is the scene at the site of the Chiefs' victory rally, which won't happen until the actual parade is over.
