The Titans had a lot of trouble passing the ball in their 20-17 "Sunday Night Football" loss to the Chiefs in Week 9, and A.J. Brown took notice.

Brown, a former Titans receiver who was traded to the Eagles during the 2022 NFL offseason, took to Twitter to note that he was unimpressed by the performance of his replacements against the Chiefs.

"Ain't nobody open," Brown wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted.

This isn't the first time that Brown has used social media to take a dig at the Titans. The fourth-year wide-out posted cryptic messages about his status amid a contract dispute with Tennessee. He also put the onus of the blame for his departure on the Titans by tweeting "not my fault" after he was dealt to the Eagles.

Brown has insisted that there is "no bad blood" between him and the Titans, but it does appear that at the very least, he is keeping receipts as Tennessee's passing game struggles without a true star receiver.

The issue goes beyond the No. 1 receiver spot, however. The team simply doesn't have much talent in its receiver room, and it showed on Sunday night.

Titans wide receivers were targeted a total of just five times on Malik Willis' 16 passes against the Chiefs. None of them was able to bring in a catch.

It must be noted that Willis completed just five total passes for 80 yards during his second career start. And 48 of those yards came on Tennessee's first play of the game on a screen pass to tight end Chig Okonkwo.

Still, it wasn't Willis' fault that the Titans' receivers failed to catch a pass. He delivered a few accurate deep throws to the likes of Chris Conley, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Robert Woods throughout the night, but they were dropped.

Meanwhile, Willis was forced to throw several passes away and took a few late sacks as his pass-catchers struggled to get open.

So, though Brown's jab may be seen by some as petty, he has a point. And the Titans clearly miss him, as their entire receiving corps has failed to match the numbers that he has single-handedly posted in Philadelphia.

Players(s) Targets Catches Yards TDs Yards per catch
A.J. Brown 69 43 718 6 16.7
Titans WRs 88 51 658 1 12.9

Perhaps things will get better for the Titans when rookies Treylon Burks (first-round pick) and Kyle Philips (fifth-round pick) return to the lineup. Even still, it's hard to imagine Tennessee sporting anything less than a mediocre passing game for the rest of 2022.
