What is Aaron Rodgers' record against 49ers? Breaking down Jets star's history vs. San Francisco image

Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets will take on the San Francisco 49ers as part of Week 1's edition of Monday Night Football. This will be Rodgers' first game back from a year off after suffering a season-ending injury in Week 1 of the 2023 season.

Rodgers didn't make it a whole drive with New York in his debut with the team last season. A sack by Leonard Ford caused him to rupture his Achilles. The quarterback thought there was a chance he could make a return at the end of the year, but it wasn't in the cards and didn't happen.

For the second season in a row, Rodgers will play in the NFL's first Monday Night Football game. Ahead of his first game in a year, let's look at how he has historically done against San Francisco.

Aaron Rodgers' record vs. 49ers

Rodgers has only suited up once for New York, and it was against the Buffalo Bills. Before joining the Jets, Rodgers spent 18 years with the Green Bay Packers. He was drafted in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft as the backup to then-Packers QB Brett Favre.

During his tenure in Green Bay, Rodgers faced the 49ers nine times during the regular season.

Nine matchups over 18 years doesn't seem like that many. Rodgers spent a few years as a backup and missed half the season in 2013 and 2017 due to injuries. He first took on San Francisco in November 2009 and won 30-24.

Overall in the regular season, Rodgers is 6-3 against San Francisco, with the last loss coming in November 2019. The most recent regular season matchup between the New York QB and San Francisco came in September of 2021 when he and the Packers won 30-28.

Rodgers has seen the Niners in the playoffs four times, all of which ended in a loss. Between the regular season and postseason, he has a losing record of 6-7 against San Francisco.
