49ers vs. Packers final score, results: San Francisco outlasts Green Bay in a thriller to clinch a spot in the NFC championship image

What else could have come from the 49ers vs. Packers playoff game. San Francisco outlasted Green Bay 24-21 to clinch its spot in its third straight NFC championship game.

The game began as close as it ended. It was only 7-6 at halftime, with the 49ers with the lead. They failed to get much momentum outside their one score, while the Packers couldn’t capitalize on what momentum they did have.

It all shifted in the second half. Three lead changes were the result of three consecutive touchdowns by the both squads.

It was Jordan Love’s first interception that was the first sign of the Packers' potential loss. While San Francisco couldn’t score seven on the turnover, it managed a field goal to make it a four-point game.

With just three minutes remaining, a field goal is what ultimately sealed the deal. Anders Carlson just missed it from the 41. The 49ers responded with a go-ahead touchdown right before Love threw his second pick of the night to Dre Greenlaw once again.

The fourth-year quarterback in Green Bay finished with 194 yards, two touchdowns and the two picks. The new franchise quarterback’s first year as a starter came to a close with costly mistakes.

Brock Purdy, the Mr. Irrelevant draft pick in his second season in California, has led his team back to the title game with a thrilling comeback, something he had only done once before. He threw only one touchdown on 252 yards, but who needs to be a hero through the air when you have Christian McCaffrey on the ground. The running back recorded two touchdowns, including game winner.

The 49ers will host the winner of the Lions-Buccaneers game in the NFC championship.
