Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte bet on himself. Literally.
During his final season at LSU, Boutte placed two bets on himself and at least six bets involving his program, according to Louisiana State Police. Boutte was arrested Thursday over allegations of illegal sports gambling.
The 21-year-old had been considered a potential first-round pick after a promising freshman season at LSU, but injuries stifled his college career.
Yet while Boutte largely struggled on the field in 2022, he evidently thought it would be a resurgent season. He allegedly bet on himself and his team among thousands of other bets illegally placed over a 13-month span from 2022 to 2023.
Boutte didn't turn 21 until after he was drafted by the Patriots, so any wagers placed during his time at LSU were placed while underage. Boutte is facing a felony charge of computer fraud along with a misdemeanor charge of gambling prohibited for anyone under age 21.

Court filings revealed some of the details of the events on which Boutte allegedly placed bets and how much he wagered. Here's what you need to know.
Which games did Kayshon Boutte bet on?
Court filings detailed one of the games on which Boutte placed bets during his time at LSU.
Boutte placed two bets on himself ahead of a Sept. 4, 2022, game against Florida State, betting on himself to get over 82.5 receiving yards and to score a touchdown. Both bets were placed one day before the game as part of a larger parlay, per police documents acquired by WAFB. He finished with just 20 yards and did not score in the LSU loss.
Overall, Boutte made at least 17 bets on NCAA football, including at least six relating to LSU football. It isn't clear what other LSU games were the subject of Boutte's bets, though the arrest warrant makes no other mention of Boutte betting on his own stats outside of the game against Florida State.
The details of the thousands of other bets placed by Boutte aren't publicly known. There is no evidence Boutte ever bet against himself against LSU, according to WAFB.
How many bets did Kayshon Boutte place?
Boutte is accused of placing 8,927 bets while underage over a 13-month period from April 2022 to May 2023. Though only a fraction of those bets appear to be related to LSU or himself, all are considered illegal because they were placed while Boutte was purporting to be 21 or older when in fact he was under 21.
That number of bets over a span of 407 days comes out to nearly 22 bets per day, or close to one bet per hour between Apr. 6, 2022 and May 17, 2023.
Boutte's underage account was only identified when he opened a new FanDuel account in Massachusetts after being drafted by the Patriots. While that account was legal, the payment method was the same as an account operated in Louisiana with the username, "Kayshonboutte01."
