Warriors vs. Grizzlies highlights, results: Tyus Jones steps up as Memphis earns first win over Golden State image

The highly anticipated matchup between the Grizzlies and Warriors lived up to the billing.

Even without Ja Morant — who is away from the team following a series of alleged incidents — Memphis was able to pick up its first win over Golden State this season.

Interim starter Tyus Jones showed out for the Grizzlies, going for a double-double of 22 points and 11 assists. Stephen Curry tried to keep the Warriors alive with 29 points but Golden State dug itself into too deep of a hole on multiple occasions.

It was a game of runs with plenty of drama, including an expected face-off between Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks at the end of the first half.

If you missed any of the action, The Sporting News had you covered with live updates, highlights and more from all the action.

Warriors 28 31 34 17 110
Grizzlies 48 29 22 32 131

Final: Grizzlies 131, Warriors 110

10:07 p.m.: After the game, Dillon Brooks had a chance to rebut Draymond Green's podcast rant in his postgame interview with TNT's Jared Greenberg.

10:02 p.m.: The contest was a rollercoaster with plenty of back-and-forths, but the Grizzlies ultimately pulled away to defeat the Warriors by 21 points.

Filling in as an interim starter, Tyus Jones was a stud with 22 points, 11 assists and three steals. Jaren Jackson Jr. added 21 points and nine rebounds, while Desmond Bane chipped in 21 points and six assists as secondary playmaker.

Stephen Curry (29 points) and Jordan Poole (22 points) led the charge for the Warriors, but the offense wasn't the issue. Golden State allowed Memphis to shoot 53.8 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from 3.

9:44 p.m.: The Grizzlies are close to ending this one. Memphis leads 120-104 with 3:43 to play. All five of Memphis' starters are in double figures, with Jaren Jackson Jr.'s 21 points leading the way.

Tyus Jones has been incredible tonight, posting a double-double of 20 points and 10 assists to pace the Grizzlies' offense.

9:37 p.m.: Every time the Warriors get close, the Grizzlies find a way to pull away. With Stephen Curry on the bench to start the fourth quarter, Memphis extended its lead to 12 points before he checked back in.

The Grizzlies lead the Warriors 115-100 with 6:39 remaining in the game.

End of third quarter: Grizzlies 99, Warriors 92

9:25 p.m.: The Grizzlies lead the Warriors 99-92 after three quarters. Every time Golden State made a run, Memphis had an answer, but the Warriors made it a contest heading into the final frame.

Stephen Curry's 27 points leads all scorers, while Jaren Jackson Jr. (18 points), Tyus Jones (18 points) and Desmond Bane (16 points) are all over 15 points.

9:15 p.m.: The Warriors and Grizzlies are trading blows. Memphis leads Golden State 92-84 with 4:15 left in the third quarter. Tyus Jones has filled in nicely as Morant's interim starter with 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Stephen Curry is trying to keep the Warriors alive with 27 points and seven rebounds.

9:05 p.m.: It's a game of runs. The Warriors open the third quarter with a 13-2 run behind an and-one and 3-ball from Stephen Curry and a 3-pointer in transition from Klay Thompson. Just like that, the Grizzlies' lead is down to seven points, 79-72, with 8:40 to play in the third.

Halftime: Grizzlies 77, Warriors 59

8:43 p.m.: My last update may have jinxed the Warriors. The Grizzlies closed the quarter on an 18-6 run, taking an 18-point lead into halftime. Golden State turned the ball over on four-straight possessions, sparking Memphis' run.

Naturally, Green and Brooks got into it as the Grizzlies started to pull away.

8:29 p.m.: We have a ball game, folks. The Warriors are sticking around, trailing 59-53 with 3:53 remaining in the quarter. It has been a battle between Stephen Curry (17 points) and Jaren Jackson Jr. (15 points) as Golden State has come back from down 20 to make things interesting.

8:20 p.m.: Here come the Warriors! Golden State is on a 21-7 run to start the second quarter, cutting the Grizzlies' lead to six points, 55-49, with 7:01 to play in the half.

Stephen Curry is heating up quickly, up to 17 points with three 3s.

8:11 p.m.: The Warriors have cut into the Grizzlies' lead with a quick 7-2 run to start the second quarter. Memphis still leads by 15, but head coach Taylor Jenkins took a quick timeout following a Stephen Curry stepback jumper to halt the momentum.

End of first quarter: Grizzlies 48, Warriors 28

8:07 p.m.: The Grizzlies exploded for 48 points in the first quarter, taking a 20-point lead into the second frame. This is the exact type of slow start that Warriors head coach Steve Kerr talks about, constantly playing from behind.

Jaren Jackson Jr. leads all scorers with 11 points while Tyus Jones has stepped up with six points and seven assists. Jordan Poole's nine points leads the Warriors while Stephen Curry has added seven points, three boards and an assist.

7:51 p.m.: The Grizzlies have not cooled off and Golden State's defense is offering no resistance. Memphis is shooting 13-for-20 (65%) from the field, leading 33-21 with 3:27 remaining in the frame.

Tyus Jones — who is Morant's interim starter — already has six points and six assists.

7:41 p.m.: The Grizzlies are on fire to start the game. Memphis has knocked down five 3s and nine of its first 12 shot attempts to take a 23-12 lead with 6:52 to play in the first quarter.

Per The Athletic's Anthony Slater, this is the seventh consecutive game the Warriors have fallen behind by double digits in the first half.

Pregame

7:17 p.m.: Before tip-off, Charles Barkley sounded off on the latest situation regarding Grizzlies superstar Morant. "He needs to mature and get better people around him," Barkley stated.

7:14 p.m.: The Warriors will start Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, Donte DiVincenzo, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

7:09 p.m.: The Grizzlies will start Tyus Jones, Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Xavier Tillman Sr.
