The NBA's 3-Point Contest will look slightly different at the 2023 All-Star Weekend.
In 2020, the NBA introduced the "MTN DEW Zone," an area located six feet beyond the 3-point line that allowed participants to show off their range. Starting in 2023, the "MTN DEW Zone" is being replaced by "STARRY Range."
Does that impact the maximum possible score? Let's take a look at the format.

What is a perfect score in the 3-Point Contest?
The 3-Point Contest has five shooting locations. Each location has a rack with five basketballs.
Four of the racks contain four normal basketballs (each worth one point) and one money ball (worth two points). The fifth rack contains five money balls and can be placed at any of the shooting locations.
In addition to the five racks, participants will get two shots from "STARRY RANGE" (each worth three points).
Add it all up, and the maximum score in the 3-Point Contest is 40 points.
What is Starry?
Starry is a new lemon lime-flavored soda released by PepsiCo.
In addition to being the title partner of the 3-Point Contest, it's the official soft drink of the NBA, WNBA and G League in North America.
