Anthony Edwards scored a playoff career-high and franchise postseason-record 43 points in Minnesota's 106-99 Game 1 win against the Denver Nuggets. The Timberwolves star joined Lakers legend Kobe Bryant as the only other player in NBA history with consecutive 40-point games at age 22 or younger.

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 20, and Mike Conley had a double-double (14 points, 10 assists) in the win. Naz Reid had 16 points off the bench, and Rudy Gobert pulled in 13 rebounds, 12 on the defensive end.

Minnesota held Jamal Murray to 17 points, but Nikola Jokic and Michael Porter Jr. combined for 53 points and 14 rebounds despite the loss. Nevertheless, the Timberwolves' offense was high-firing, shooting better than 50 percent from the field.

Now Minnesota heads into its second game in Denver with a 1-0 series lead against the defending champs. If the Nuggets aren't able to contain Edwards, it's possible the Wolves could head home Monday night having taken two games on the road.
