The NBA's summer of action got underway with the California Classic, a six-team event hosted by the Kings from July 3 through July 5.

Joining the Kings at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., were the Heat, Hornets, Lakers, Spurs and Warriors. Headlining the players scheduled to take the floor is Brandon Miller, who the Hornets selected second overall in the 2023 NBA Draft.

While the Spurs were at the California Classic, No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama was not on the floor with his team. He is expected to join San Antonio at the NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas.

The Sporting News tracked all the results, stats and highlights from the California Classic.

NBA Summer League scores: Results, stats for California Classic

Monday, July 3

Heat 107, Lakers 90

Leading scorers: Jaime Jacquez Jr. — 22 PTS, Nikola Jovic — 21 PTS

This one was all about the Heat's most recent first-round picks, as rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. led the way with 22 points and second-year forward Nikola Jovic finished with 21 points.

Jaquez may have had the highlight of the game as well.

Spurs 98, Hornets 77

Leading scorers: Julian Champaignie — 30 PTS, Dominik Barlow — 24 PTS

Julian Champagnie and Dominick Barlow combined for 54 points to power the Spurs to a comfortable 21-point win in their Summer League opener.

All eyes were on No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller, who turned in a solid outing for the Hornets with 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists in 34 minutes, knocking down 3-of-7 from the 3-point line.

...and somehow got this wild bucket to go!

Kings 100, Warriors 94

Leading scorers: Keegan Murray — 29 PTS, Lester Quinones — 26 PTS

Right from tip-off it was evident Keegan Murray is in the "too good to be playing Summer League" tier, pouring in 29 points on 8-of-17 shooting to lead the Kings past the Warriors.

He wasted no time setting the tone for the game, throwing down this thunderous jam in the first quarter.

Wednesday, July 5

Warriors 98, Hornets 83

Leading scorers: Lester Quinones — 21 PTS, Gui Santos — 18 PTS

Golden State blew the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Hornets 29-15, led by second-year guard Lester Quinones, who scored a game-high 21 points, while No. 19 pick Brandin Podziemski turned in another solid performance with 17 points, four rebounds, and five steals.

Spurs 109, Lakers 99

Leading scorers: Malaki Branham — 32 PTS, Julian Champagnie — 28 PTS

The Spurs leave Sacramento with a 2-0 record, behind big performances from Malaki Branham - the No. 20 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and Julian Champagnie

Second-year guard Max Christie had the hot hand for the Lakers with 25 points, while rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino recorded 20 points, four assists, and three rebounds.

Kings 95, Heat 83

For the second-straight game, Keegan Murray showed he's definitely too good to be playing in Summer League, erupting for 41 points, five rebounds, and four blocks on 6-of-11 from the 3-point line.

He had more threes and blocks than the entire Heat starting lineup.
