The Mavericks are the latest NBA team to have an All-Star miss time with an early-season injury.

Just three games into the 2023-24 season, Kyrie Irving was a late scratch because of an apparent foot injury. In his first two games, Irving was Dallas' second-leading scorer behind backcourt mate Luka Doncic, who entered the season hobbled by a calf injury.

What is Kyrie Irving's injury?

The Mavericks have listed Irving on the injury report with a sprained left foot.

According to Dallas head coach Jason Kidd, Irving sustained the injury at some point during the team's win over Brooklyn on Oct. 27. Irving finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 34 minutes of action against his former team.

In two games, Irving is averaging 19.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.

How long is Kyrie Irving out?

After sitting out a Nets win over the Grizzlies on Oct. 30, Irving was ruled out for a matchup against the Bulls on Nov. 1.

"Hopefully, he's day to day," Kidd said of Irving's status (via ESPN's Tim MacMahon). "He's getting his treatment. We'll see how he feels tomorrow."

Irving will return on Nov. 3 when the Mavericks face the Nuggets, per The Athletic's Shams Charania.
