Klay Thompson was one of the biggest names available in NBA free agency. The Warriors star was set to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career, and it was expected he would leave Golden State after 11 quality seasons.
It appears that Thompson is taking his talents to Dallas. He is reportedly joining the Mavericks on a three-year, $50 million contract in the hopes of bringing another championship to the team.
Thompson has won championships frequently during his NBA career. The Warriors built a dynasty in the 2010s, and alongside Stephen Curry, Thompson was a driving force behind the offense's 3-point-heavy mentality.
Dallas hopes that Thompson's scoring punch will provide it with the offense it needs to overcome some of the top-scoring teams in the NBA. The Mavericks went to the NBA Finals last season, and with Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Thompson in tow, they should be expected to be among the Western Conference's toughest teams once again.
How much will Thompson's championship experience matter? Here's what to know about his NBA Finals history as the proven winner heads to Dallas.

How many rings does Klay Thompson have?
Thompson has won four NBA championships during his career, all with the Warriors. They came in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.

Each of Thompson's next two titles also came against the Cavaliers. He averaged 16.4 points per game on 42.5 percent shooting from deep in 2017 and followed that up by averaging 16.0 points on 42.9 percent 3-point shooting in Golden State's 2018 sweep of Cleveland.
Thompson's most recent title came in six games against the Celtics. He averaged 17.0 points per game in that NBA Finals but shot just 35.1 percent from 3-point range and 35.6 percent from the floor.
