Following eight seasons with the Jazz, Joe Ingles will be wearing new threads during the 2022-23 season.

Unfortunately, it could be a while before we see the Australian suit up for his new team.

Ingles suffered a knee injury in the second half of the 2021-22 season that sidelined him the rest of the way. He's expected to miss the start of the 2022-23 season as he continues to rehab.

The Bucks signed Ingles to a one-year contract despite his injury, adding to their depth in the backcourt.

What's next for Ingles? Here's everything we know about his injury and the latest news on when he may return to the court.

What is Joe Ingles' injury?

Ingles suffered a left knee injury on a drive to the basket in Utah's matchup with Minnesota on Jan. 30, 2022.

A day later, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that Ingles had a torn ACL in his left knee and would miss the rest of the 2021-22 season.

The Jazz revealed in a statement that Ingles suffered no other structural damage in his knee.

On Feb. 9, Ingles was traded from the Jazz to the Trail Blazers ahead of the NBA's trade deadline. Ingles then underwent successful surgery on his knee on Feb. 23.

Ingles averaged 7.2 points, 3.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 45 games last season.

How long will Joe Ingles be out?

Wojnarowski mentioned in his initial report that Ingles would need to rehabilitate "into the start of the 2022-23 season."

Australian legend Andrew Gaze said in July that Ingles told him he was hoping to be back on the court in the middle of December. When asked about that timeline by The Athletic's Eric Nehm, Bucks general manager Jon Horst said the team is expecting "something in that December timeframe, January timeframe."

On Dec. 16, Wojnarowski reported that Ingles is targeting a return on Monday, Dec. 19, when the Bucks face the Pelicans. Wojnarowski later confirmed that Ingles will be available for that game.

Ingles signed a one-year, $6.5 million contract with the Bucks.
