The James Harden and Philadelphia 76ers relationship may be coming to an abrupt end.
After blowing a 3-2 lead in their second-round series against the Celtics, the once-promising 76ers have slowly turned into a sinking ship.
The team fired Doc Rivers earlier in the week. Most speculated it was to appease Harden, but according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, that might not matter at all as NBA executives believe Harden will sign with the Houston Rockets in the offseason.

Current Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta reportedly “loves” Harden. With Houston in position to have close to $60 million in cap space this offseason, it opens the door for a reunion.
Harden, who intends to opt out of the final year of his contract, is said to be looking for a long-term deal. Heading into his age 34 season, it's likely this may be the final opportunity for the Beard to cash in on a long-term high-paying deal.

Money shouldn't be an issue for the Rockets, but Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes reported earlier this week that money isn't the only motivating factor for Harden in choosing his next destination. A competitive roster and the freedom to be a star are on the list of requirements for the former MVP's services.
The Rockets have the dough and the potential freedom Harden may be looking for, but after finishing the season 22-60, the competitive roster may throw a wrench in the deal.
What happens next is anyone's guess. Harden still has to officially opt out of his deal and the Rockets still have to give him the contract he desires. But as we've come to find out with the past two exits on the Harden highway in Houston and Brooklyn, what the Beard wants, he's not afraid to go out and get.
