The 76ers booked their spot in the second round, taking care of the Raptors in six games, with the Heat awaiting them after they took care of business against the Hawks in five, progressing to this No. 1 vs. No. 4 Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup.
The 76ers and Heat split the season series 2-2, but for Philly they will be on the back foot early with MVP candidate Joel Embiid set to miss Game 1 with an orbital fracture and concussion.
“I felt bad for my guy,” Heat forward Jimmy Butler said after Saturday's practice. “Obviously one of my former teammates, arguably the MVP of this league."
"Obviously, I speak for everybody that’s a part of this team, we wanted Jo," Butler said. "We wanted to go up against them at full strength and prove that we can hang with anybody and we can beat anybody.
“It’s a mishap. I hope he recovers well and he gets back very, very soon.”
Can James Harden, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey and co. step up in Embiid's absence or will the strength of Miami's depth prove too much?
