The Thunder are excited to add an extremely talented "rookie" to their roster this season.
After being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Chet Holmgren missed the entire 2022-23 season because of a Lisfranc injury in his right foot.
The former Gonzaga star has been going through the rehabilitation process for the past few months, and he is prepared to help an Oklahoma City squad that took a major step forward last season.
But will Holmgren be ready to play in Summer League games? Here are the latest updates on the 21-year-old's status.
NBA DRAFT GRADES: Ranking all 30 teams from Spurs to Clippers
Is Chet Holmgren playing in NBA Summer League?
Thunder general manager Sam Presti hasn't guaranteed that Holmgren will play in Summer League games, but he recently said the team is hopeful that he will be available.
"Chet is doing great. He has had a great offseason," Presti said (via USA Today). "It is one of those things where you, sometimes, don't appreciate the consistency of somebody because all through the draft process and since the end of the season, you're in the building every day and he is out there — same time, same schedule — just monotonously putting in all of this work with our coaches.
"He has done a great job. He has followed the plan and looks really good. We're excited for him but I don't think anybody could be more excited than he is."
