While UFC bantamweight champion Aljmaian Sterling is focused on UFC 292 opponent Sean O’Malley, he's also thinking about his fight future. “Funk Master” looks to enhance his legacy at the latest UFC event before moving on to bigger game.

UFC 292 takes place at the TD Garden in Boston and will air on ESPN+ PPV in the U.S.

Ranked sixth in the UFC's pound-for-pound rankings, Sterling is 15-3 inside the octagon. On a nine-fight win streak, he has defended the bantamweight title three times, breaking the record for most consecutive title defenses within the division.

Sterling may leave the division following a win over O’Malley, who he calls “Mr. High Fructose Corn Syrup.”

"I think [it could be my last at 135]. I think I go out there, dominate O'Malley the way I think I'm going to dominate him, send that naked mole rat back to wherever he's from, the hole he crawled out of," Sterling told TMZ Sports.

"We set our sights on (Alexander) Volkanovski. Go up to 145, cause some terror there. Win the belt, become champ-champ, and then from there, possibly defend the belt one or two times, and maybe that's all she wrote for the MMA career.”

Per Bet MGM, the two-time NCAA Division III All-American wrestler is the -275 favorite, while O'Malley is the +210 underdog.

To reach his goals, Sterling must get past “Sugar” Sean, a Dana White’s Contender Series standout. O’Malley is 8-1 with one no-contest in the octagon and is unbeaten since 2020. With eleven wins via knockout and a unique fighting style, the 28-year-old is ready to crash Sterling’s party.

The co-main event will see Zhang Weili defend the UFC strawweight title against fifth-ranked Amanda Lemos.
