A huge middleweight, Alex Pereira is looking to go 4-0 against Israel Adesanya across two sports. Will he get the job done and hold onto the UFC middleweight title?

UFC 287 takes place inside the Miami-Dade Arena on April 8, airing on ESPN+ PPV.

Pereira made his MMA debut in 2015 and, following an eight-fight win, has won six fights via knockout. He became the second-least experienced UFC champion since Brock Lesnar when he beat Adesanya at UFC 281 via TKO for the middleweight title. Already 3-0 against Adesanya in kickboxing and MMA, “Poatan” is ready to move on following what he expects to be a violent performance at UFC 287.

”The Last Stylebender” defended the belt five times before losing it to Pereira. The loss ended a 23-fight win streak in the division. Now on the outside looking in, Adesnaya still believes he has what it takes to take down Pereira following some close bouts.

"I’m always beating him, I’m always dominating him until he finds that way to win," Adesanya said on DC & RC via Middle Easy. "That gives me a challenge, I love challenges, that gives me a challenge to rise to the occasion. An example, this weekend, it gives me an opportunity to remind and show people how great I am, and I love being in this position. Not everybody can be in this position and thrive, but I can."

Meanwhile, Miami’s Jorge Masvidal is ready to fight in front of family and friends against Gilbert Burns. A potential shot at the UFC welterweight title is on the line, and Masvidal’s career if he loses.

The Sporting News will provide weigh-in results for UFC 287. Follow along as each fighter on the card attempts to make weight.
