The day the music stopped.
Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm is having a breakout season, but now he's going to be forced out with a little break of his own.
The Miami Herald first reported that Chisholm dealing with a stress fracture in his back. It's not season-ending, but the injury is expected to keep him on the shelf for more than a month.
It couldn't come at a worse time for the Marlins: Miami is currently six games under .500 and in fourth place in the NL East. They are, though, clinging on to wild-card hopes, as they sit six games back of a wild-card spot with the second half of the season left to play.
Miami is facing a soft stretch in its schedule, with series against the Pirates, Reds and Cubs coming up over the next few weeks. It also comes just before the trade deadline, and could force Miami in one direction or the other when it comes to buying or selling.

Jazz Chisholm injury update
On July 22, an MRI revealed that Chisholm had a stress fracture in his back, per reports.
The injury should keep him out for six weeks, leaving a return for the beginning of September, roughly. Chisholm has been out since late June with a lower-back strain, but took batting practice earlier this week without issue.
In his stead, Joey Wendle and Luke Williams will likely split time at second base.
