Fore!
When one hears the name Danny Woodhead, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Most will think back to Woodhead's nine-year NFL career. He was a hard-nosed back who showed a proclivity in catching the ball out of the backfield; he racked up over 600 receiving yards in 2013 and 2015.
Woodhead was a dual-threat on the gridiron. Now, he makes plays with the nine-iron, too. On Wednesday, Woodhead advanced to the next round of U.S. Open qualification after shooting an even-par 71 at Omaha Country Club.

Woodhead earned one of the five final qualifying berths. If he advances out of local qualifying, he will move to the final qualifying. All of this is to say, Woodhead is still a long way away from playing at one of golf's biggest stages: The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. — the host of the 2022 U.S. Open from June 16-19.
Woodhead enjoyed a decent NFL career, rushing for 2,238 yards and 15 touchdowns while notching 2,698 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns, too. Once retired, he did what many do as a hobby. He renewed his passion for golf.
Woodhead qualified for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball tournament at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in Washington last year.
And on Wednesday, he flashed his talent on the green. Woodhead sank four birdies during his round, including this pearler from distance.

However, he's come a long way in a short time. Now, he can dream a little about what comes next.
"I just want to keep getting as good as I can. That's my whole goal," Woodhead told Omaha.com's Stu Popsil. "We'll see what happens, but the next month I'm going to be grinding to get ready for sectionals and see what happens. Maybe I just grind to a couple of good scores."
