The 2024 Formula One World Drivers' Championship looks on course to be the domain of Max Verstappen once more, after the back-to-back title holder picked up his fourth victory from five attempts at the first Chinese Grand Prix since 2019, winning by over 13 seconds having qualified on pole the day before.

McLaren's Lando Norris finished second to break up Verstappen and Sergio Perez's Red Bull monopoly on the podium, but was no match for the Dutchman, who has already passed the 100-point threshold in this year's championship and leads his team-mate Perez by 25 points at the summit.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were some way behind in fourth and fifth respectively, with George Russell sixth. Fernando Alonso finished seventh, despite qualifying behind the Red Bull duo of Verstappen and Perez, but did also record the fastest lap of the race to win an extra world championship point.

With Verstappen leading the World Drivers' Championship by some distance coming into the sixth race of the campaign, the onus is on the other 19 drivers to close the gap. Perez is closest, with Leclerc and Sainz hoping for a strong performance to get Ferrari back in the mix for the Constructors' Championship.

There's another two-week break after the Chinese Grand Prix as the 20 drivers head stateside for the Miami Grand Prix, and The Sporting News has all the info you'll need to follow all of the action either live or catch up from around the world.

Is there a F1 race on this weekend?

Unfortunately not! Despite there being more races than ever before in 2024, the season is spread between February and December, leaving a two-week gap between most meetings. Therefore, after the Chinese Grand Prix concluded with another Verstappen victory on April 21, it'll be a new month and a new continent by the time the next race comes around.

Next up, it's the Miami Grand Prix, being held for only the third time as part of the annual Formula 1 calendar. Verstappen was the 2023 winner in Florida, having recorded the fastest lap the year prior despite losing out to Charles Leclerc on the podium.

When is next F1 race?

After the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, there's another two-week break between race numbers five and six on the 2024 calendar. After opening the season with five meetings across Asia and Oceania, the 20 drivers will now head stateside to the USA for early May's Miami Grand Prix

One of the newest events on the F1 calendar, the third edition of the Miami Grand Prix will begin with the opening practice sessions on Friday, May 3, with the race proper following two days later at 4:00 p.m. local time (ET) on Sunday, May 5
