F1 Miami Grand Prix 2024 race results, standings: Lando Norris celebrates first career Formula One win in style image

Burnt rubber swirled about Miami International Autodrome during Sunday's Miami Grand Prix. The lead conductor of such a chorus was one of Formula One's greatest talents, McLaren's Lando Norris.

Norris raced to gold at Vice City, capturing his first career win after outpacing Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen at this year's iteration of the Miami Grand Prix.

It was a contest filled with drama. Those who watched on from the concourses — including Heat star Jimmy Butler and football supernova Travis Kelce — were greeted with quite the event. Norris flashed to the top of the grid with relative ease, bursting beyond the likes of standouts Verstappen and Charles LeClerc to spearhead the proceedings.

He endured a decent challenge from Verstappen, who showcased impressive speed on the long run. When the dust settled, though, it was Norris who frolicked in victory lane, breaking his seven-year duck.

Lando Norris breaks duck, secures first career Formula One win

Norris has long been considered one of F1's greatest prospects. It took until this weekend for that greatest to pay off in a tangible way, though.

Norris started Sunday’s race sitting fifth in the starting grid. He found speed as tires wore on, eventually usurping all those who stood in his way, including Verstappen.

Norris raced to the front in style, besting his good friend Verstappen to formally cement his place in F1 history.
