Who is Inter coach Simone Inzaghi? Clubs managed, trophies won for Pippo's brother image

Simone Inzaghi is looking to lead Inter Milan to European glory as they face Manchester City in the 2023 Champions League final on June 10.

The Nerazzurri have won the Champions League three times so far in their history, but this will certainly be their hardest task. Man City are heavy favourites due to Pep Guardiola's managerial style and the depth of his squad.

Inzaghi is no stranger to winning trophies, but a win against Man City would be difficult to top again in his career as head coach. He will need to rely on his best players, such as Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella, and an airtight game plan to pull it off.

The Sporting News looks at the career of Simone Inzaghi and what he has achieved so far.

What clubs has Simone Inzaghi managed?

Inzaghi began his coaching career as interim manager of Lazio before being appointed on a permanent basis. He previously spent 11 years at the club as a player before also coaching three of their youth teams.

He guided Lazio back into the Champions League at the end of the 2019/20 season, ending a 12-year absence from the European competition. Lazio managed to reach the Round of 16 of the 2020/21 tournament, after which Inzaghi made the jump to Inter.

Inzaghi managed to lead Inter to a second-place finish in his first season in charge (2021/22), along with a couple of trophies. His win percentage in Milan is currently better than what he compiled during his time at Lazio, but he has managed far fewer games.

Team Years Games Wins Draws Losses Goal Difference Win Percentage
Lazio April 2016 - May 2021 251 134 45 72 +138 53.39
Inter July 2021 - present 108 69 18 21 +109 63.89

What trophies has Simone Inzaghi won?

Although Inzaghi is yet to win an Italian Serie A or European title, he has been very prolific in cup competitions. During his time at Lazio and Inter, the 47-year-old has won seven trophies.

His first silverware came in 2017 as he won the Supercoppa Italiana with Lazio, before doing it again two years later. He won the Coppa Italia three times as a Lazio player and once as a manger in 2019, beating Atalanta 2-0 in the final.

After joining Inter in 2021, he won both competitions another two times. He could do a cup double this season if they win the Champions League as they won the Coppa Italia in May against Fiorentina. Martinez scored a brace to help Inter win 2-1.
