England take on fellow European side Denmark in Group D, hoping to win and put one foot in the knockout rounds of the Women's World Cup.

Despite missing a few key players through injury, the Lionesses did win their opening match against Haiti, though they were made to work hard for their 1-0 victory where Georgia Stanway scored with a retaken penalty.

Denmark were also involved in a tense clash in Perth, needing a 90th-minute winner to overcome a stubborn China side in a match also finishing 1-0.

A big crowd is expected in Sydney for arguably the best match in Group D, with both sides fighting to finish top of the group.

England vs. Denmark lineups

England have no fresh injury concerns, with the only position of debate ahead of the second match being who will start up front.

Alessia Russo and Rachel Daly are both fighting for the spot, but Russo should have shown enough in the opening game to keep her place against Denmark.

England projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Earps (GK) — Bronze, Bright, Carter, Greenwood — Stanway, Walsh, Toone — Kelly, Russo, Hemp

For Denmark, star striker Pernille Harder will lead the line, whilst Amalie Vansgaard may have played her way into the starting side with her late winner against China.

Denmark projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Christensen (GK) — Sevecke, Ballisager, Boye, Veje — Hasbo, Holmgaard, Kuhl — Thomsen, Harder, Vansgaard

England vs Denmark betting odds

England are favourites to win this huge clash and take control of the group, despite Denmark possessing quality players such as Harder.

It is not expected to be a high-scoring affair, with bookmakers taking into account the Lionesses' struggles in front of goal in 2023.
