Australian midfielder Tom Rogic has been linked with a shock move to the Premier League.
The Socceroo remains a free agent after leaving Celtic at the end of last season following a nine-year stint with the Scottish giants.
During Rogic's time with the Hoops he often attracted interest from clubs in England with Arsenal previously scouting him closely in 2016.
Now it appears Everton may be looking to sign the Aussie, according to the Daily Record, as they try to strengthen their squad after a disappointing start to the 2022-23 season.
Frank Lampard's side picked up their first point of the season on Saturday against Nottingham Forest having lost their first two Premier League matches.
Those lacklustre results leaves the Toffees needing to strengthen and reports suggest Rogic is one player Lampard is looking at.
After a difficult few seasons, Rogic looked back to his best over the past year at Celtic and showed he still has the potential to cut it at the highest level.
Despite interest from clubs in Australia and Indonesia, the 29-year-old remains a free agent and could be holding out to secure another deal in Europe.
Speaking after his club's 1-1 draw on Saturday, Lampard confirmed the Toffees are still very much alive in the transfer market as the Rogic rumours picked up steam.
"There is still some business we want to do," Lampard said.
"Ideally we would have a few more points on the board but we just have to keep working with what we have got now and in how we can strengthen the squad."
Former Socceroo and current Celtic assistant coach Harry Kewell was asked about Rogic this week and only had good things to say about the midfielder.
With the 2022 World Cup now just months away, however, Kewell made it clear that Rogic needs to sort out his club future soon to ensure he's ready to play for Australia in Qatar.
"You mention Tom Rogic around Celtic and they all love him," Kewell said via NCA Newswire.
"He was a player that a lot of his teammates respected. They enjoyed playing with him.
"I’m a little bit baffled to know what’s happening with him. I hope he sorts himself out and I hope he’s ready because I’m sure he wants to be there (in Qatar for the World Cup).
"I’m sure he wants to be part of it, but it’s going to be down to him. He needs to be right mentally and physically if he wants to be part of this Australian squad."
