Sporting CP host Tottenham on Matchday 2 of the Champions League after both sides made winning starts in Group D.

Spurs had to be patient before Richarlison's late brace secured a 2-0 win over Marseille in London.

Sporting were similarly goalless at halftime away to Eintracht Frankfurt before former Tottenham youth star Marcus Edwards, Francisco Trincao and Nuno Santos were all on target for Ruben Amorim's side.

Tottenham had a free weekend after their scheduled match at Manchester City was postponed as the Premier League shelved its entire programme as a mark of respect following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The previous time Sporting hosted English opposition in the Champions League came in February when City ran out 5-0 winners in last season's Round of 16.

Sporting CP vs. Tottenham lineups

Amorim has a few concerns in defence after losing Jeremiah St Juste to a muscular injury during the win over Eintracht, before Goncalo Inacio and Luis Neto were forced off during the 4-0 rout of Portimonense.

Inacio's withdrawal at least appeared precautionary, meaning he could still join Sebastian Coates in the back three, with Ricardo Esgaio coming in as a makeshift centre-back. Matheu Reis and Manuel Ugarte ticked over with second-half substitute appearances at the weekend and are expected to return to the first XI.

Sporting CP projected lineup (3-4-3): Adan (GK) — Esgaio, Coates, Inacio — Porro, Ugarte, Morita, Reis — Trincao, Edwards, Gonclaves.

A weekend off means the next examination over whether Antonio Conte can juggle his resources effectively for twice-weekly action in the Premier League and Champions League will have to wait a little while.

The Spurs boss could opt for an unchanged lineup to the one that beat Marseille, with Richarlison's goals making a strong case for him to be retained ahead of Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham projected lineup (3-4-3): Lloris (GK) — Romero, Dier, Lenglet — Perisic, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Emerson — Son, Kane, Richarlison.

Sporting CP vs. Tottenham betting odds

Tottenham's impressive unbeaten start to the season across all competition understandably means they are considered favourites.

Sporting are likely to play in their typically enterprising manner but they are winless in six consecutive matches against English teams and have never opened a European campaign with two consecutive wins.
