Jose Mourinho has the chance to win European trophies in successive years as Roma manager as they take on Sevilla in the Europa League final.

Mourinho guided Roma to the inaugural UEFA Conference League title last season and is now preparing his players to take on Europa League specialists Sevilla in the Budapest showpiece on Wednesday.

The Spanish outfit are a formidable opposition in the Europa League and have a greater pedigree than their Italian counterparts when it comes to winning European trophies in particular.

The Sporting News delves into Roma's club history when it comes to finals played and trophies won.

How many trophies have Roma won?

Roma have been Serie A champions on three occasions in their history: in 1941/42, 1982/83 and 2000/01. The Scudetto tends to be dominated by Juventus and the Milan clubs, who have 74 title victories between them.

Genoa, Torino, Bologna and Pro Vercelli all have more title wins than Roma, however, who are level with Napoli on three.

The capital club have won nine Coppa Italias (1963–64, 1968–69, 1979–80, 1980–81, 1983–84, 1985–86, 1990–91, 2006–07 and 2007–08) and have twice won the Suppercoppa Italia, in 2001 and 2007.

In Europe, Roma have won two pieces of silverware.

Have Roma ever won a European trophy?

Yes, the 2021/22 Europa Conference League success under Mourinho was Roma's second ever European trophy – and the club's first in 50 years.

Roma won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1960/61, which is considered a predecessor to the Europa League (but isn't counted as so, unlike the UEFA Cup).

Roma have never won the UEFA Cup or Europa League and they've never won the Champions League either, although they've reached the final of both competitions on one occasion, losing each time.

List of European finals Roma have played in

Here's a table showing all the European finals that Roma have featured in throughout their history.
