Real Madrid take on Chelsea in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal series, with a place in the final four at stake for the team that emerges victorious on aggregate goals.

Thomas Tuchel's men have it all to do at the Santiago Bernabeu, after a disappointing 3-1 loss at Stamford Bridge has left them needing to overcome a two-goal deficit to reach the semifinals of the tournament.

Real Madrid can sit back and play on the counter, knowing that they have some margin for error on their own turf. A one-goal loss would still see Los Merengues reach the next round.

Nevertheless, this promises to be an intriguing clash between two global footballing giants, and a rematch of last year's semifinal clash which saw Chelsea come out on top. Goals are to be expected, as Chelsea know that failure to do so will result in losing their crown as Champions League holders.

Real Madrid vs. Chelsea predicted lineups

Defender Eder Militao will be unavailable for Real Madrid in the return leg due to yellow card accumulation. Former Chelsea man Eden Hazard will also not play due to leg surgery, while striker Luka Jovic is a doubt due to ongoing ankle concerns.

Isco has been out in recent weeks with back problems and it remains to be seen whether he will recover in time for Tuesday's clash. Although Ferland Mendy has not trained with the rest of the team for several sessions and sat out Saturday's league match, reports indicate that he should be available and that the break was fatigue-related.

Real Madrid predicted lineup (4-3-3): Courtois (GK) — Carvajal, Nacho, Alaba, Mendy — Modric, Casemiro, Kroos — Valverde, Vinicius Jr., Benzema.

As for the visitors, Romelu Lukaku is confirmed to miss the match due to an Achilles issue. Cesar Azpilicueta is available again after a positive COVID-19 test.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles) and Ben Chilwell (ACL surgery) are still out, and English media indicate that Ross Barkley is unavailable due to illness.

Chelsea predicted lineup (3-4-2-1): Mendy (GK) — Christensen, Thiago Silva, Rudiger — James, Kante, Kovacic, Azpilicueta — Mount, Pulisic —  Havertz.

Real Madrid vs. Chelsea betting odds

Goals could be a prominent feature in this match, with both teams capable of producing excellent offensive passages of play. Karim Benzema will be odds-on favorite to grab himself another goal or two, following his sublime hat trick at Stamford Bridge last week.

Chelsea are more than capable of utilising their pace on the counterattack, which may be their preferred method of approaching this crunch clash. If they can feed the ball into Christian Pulisic in promising areas, he could be the difference-maker due to his composure in the final third. He may hold the key to getting the Blues back into the tie.
