Real Madrid teenager Joan Martinez has committed his immediate future to the club with a new contract that runs until June 2027.
The 17-year-old centre-back was in line for first-team opportunities under Carlo Ancelotti this term before suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
As a player aged under 18, Martinez is only permitted to sign a contract up until 2027. As per The Athletic, there is a clause in this new deal that means the player will sign a fresh contract once he turns 18 in August next year.
At that stage, it's possible that a €70m ($76.6m/£58.6m) could be further increased.

"I am very happy and excited to renew my contract with this great club, the best in the world," Martinez said. "Now, more eager than ever, I am ready for everything that is to come. Hala Madrid!"
Ancelotti selected the youngster for friendlies against AC Milan and Barcelona on Madrid's summer tour of the United States when they took a depleted squad bolstered by academy products given several senior stars were still on vacation following Euro 2024 and the Copa America.
Martinez's serious knee setback put paid to any further progress this term. He underwent surgery in September, meaning a likely return to training around the time of Madrid's anticipated participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
