A match oozing with drama and storylines promises to thrill as the second leg of the Champions League qualifier comes from the Netherlands with PSV hosting Rangers.

Last season, PSV and Rangers met in this very same Champions League qualifying stage, and after playing to a 2-2 draw in the first leg, Rangers won 1-0 on the road to advance in dramatic fashion.

This season, with the two teams again matched up in the UCL qualifying stage, they again played to a 2-2 draw, setting up a second leg rematch that sees PSV looking to exact revenge. That means the winner here will secure a coveted spot in the Champions League group stage.

PSV's new American international trio of Sergino Dest, Ricardo Pepi, and Malik Tillman are on hand to assist the Dutch club. Dest – who has joined from Barcelona on loan – has slotted right into the starting lineup, while Pepi and Tillman have had to bide their time to earn minutes early on. Tillman was at Rangers last year and played a pivotal role in their second leg win, but now is on the opposite side of the action.

PSV vs Rangers prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: PSV (-200)
  • Score prediction: PSV 2-0 Rangers

PSV let this one slip away in the second leg last year, but this year they should exact revenge, at least according to the bookies.

The sports books do have a heavy disparity between the two sides, probably weighted too heavily towards the hosts given how evenly they've played each other in every matchup. That means there's clear value on Rangers here, but there's nothing wrong with staying put and picking who will win regardless of the odds.

Odds also reflect an expectation of goals, which seems contrary to how these two teams matched up in last year's second leg, a 1-0 final in favour of Rangers.

    PSV vs Rangers: best bet

    • Pick: Half with most goals — 2H
    • Odds: +100 (BetMGM)

This entire two-leg series is playing out eerily similar to last year's. Both times these two teams finished the first leg in Scotland with a 2-2 scoreline, and now they'll head back to Eindhoven for the second leg just like last year.

In that one, Rangers came to play in a big way, scoring a second half goal en route to a road victory. This time around, it's likely to play out in a similar fashion. While the home side will rightly be expected to win, it's still possible that each club looks to keep a lid on the match until after halftime when they open things up, given so much is at stake. Even the first leg was heavily skewed towards second-half action, so expect the sides to do the same here.

    PSV vs Rangers prop bet

    • Pick: Rangers with most corners
    • Odds: +320 (FanDuel)

Given we believe that PSV will be leading in this game late and are expected to win, Rangers will have to push for set-piece opportunities as the away side. PSV had more corners in the first leg on the road, but this game should prove a different outcome.

In last year's second leg, the two sides finished level on corners, but a closer look shows how it happened. Rangers picked up corners early before taking the lead, at which point PSV had to pour numbers forward and earned corners down the stretch. Here, we expect PSV to come out ahead this time, meaning the visitors will have to push late for goals. Rangers will know their best chances will come off dead ball opportunities.
