When is Luton Town vs Burnley? Rescheduled date, time, why Premier League match was postponed image

Luton Town welcome rivals Burnley to Kenilworth Road in a crunch Premier League clash on October 3 with the hosts looking to build on their first ever Premier League win last weekend.

Rob Edwards' side claimed a 2-1 victory away at Everton, to ease some of the pressure on his position, but Burnley are one of three teams yet to win a Premier League game so far this season.

The stakes will be high for both teams, with Premier League promotion not going according to plan for Edwards and his opposite number Vincent Kompany, in the 2023/24 campaign.

The match will bring all 20 Premier League teams on to seven games played after their original clash was postponed by the Premier League.

Why was Luton Town vs Burnley postponed?

Luton were supposed to play Burnley at home on Saturday, August 19, but the match was postponed because of the condition of the Hatters' stadium.

Kenilworth Road has undergone extensive improvement works in order to bring it up to code for the Premier League in terms of broadcaster and media requirements. The majority of the redevelopment is now complete but the club are expected to use the remaining two international breaks in 2023 to finalise the project.

Luton asked the Premier League to postpone the Burnley game in order to complete the work, and the request was granted. In a statement, the club said: "Whilst ongoing work is progressing extremely well and currently ahead of schedule, the Premier League understandably requires guarantees to its fixture schedule within sufficient time to advise supporters and broadcasters of any changes in advance.

"Due to the extent of the project, the club cannot absolutely guarantee supporters that any future unforeseen issues would not cause any delay potentially impacting upon the scheduled opening game at home."
