Phil Parkinson's men now compete in League One of the English Football League (EFL) and are just two leagues away from Premier League status.

The arrival of Reynolds/McElhenney enabled Wrexham to start battling with EFL clubs for players with the new ownership willing to match wages from clubs in the division above.

From February 2021 onwards, Wrexham have revamped their first team squad as part of a push to secure promotion.

Exact figures on how much their key stars are earning are unconfirmed by the club, but it's been rumoured that their highest-paid player is George Evans, according to Salary Sport. The figure quoted is £7,200 per week ($9,500).

According to Capology, Wrexham spend just under £4.5 million ($5.9m) on their annual payroll. The club recorded £5m ($6.6m) losses for the 2022/23 season, which increased by around 76% for 2023/24.

Countering this, revenues have soared in recent years since the takeover, reaching $13m for the year ending June 2023, with merchandise sales, matchday income and sponsorship deals all increasing significantly.

"I don't think we're necessarily concerned with losing money as much as we are concerned with making the club sustainable, that was always our intent," said McElhenney in an interview with S4C.

"It is interesting to see a lot of the media that has come out over our annual report from this past year because it is not taking into account so many different things. We don't respond to it because we know what the truth is, which is that the club is certainly on its way to becoming sustainable and that's what our goal is."

Who signs players at Wrexham?

Reynolds played an active role in the club signing Foster with the 47-year-old personally meeting him to complete a deal.

However, he has generally taking a back seat role in talks, with Parkinson still taking the lead in player recruitment, alongside his coaching and scouting teams.
