Germany have seen a number of role players flourish in recent months and hope to continue that trend as they host the Netherlands in a marquee UEFA Nations League matchup on Monday.

The Euro 2024 hosts are missing a few key individuals like Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, and Niclas Fullkrug from the international roster this October, leaving openings for other players to step in and shine. Such has been the case in the last two international windows for Deniz Undav, who has made the most of his opportunities, scoring a brace against Bosnia & Herzegovina last time out.

The likes of Tim Kleindienst, Max Middelstadt, and Alexander Nubel also got time in that match and played well, leading to a suddenly deep selection pool for head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

The Netherlands, meanwhile, have drawn two straight matches, including a 2-2 result against Germany at home last international break. They will be without Virgil van Dijk at the back after a suspension for his 79th minute dismissal in the 1-1 draw with Hungary back on Friday.

Germany vs. Netherlands prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Germany (-135)
  • Score prediction: Germany 3-1 Netherlands

The absence of suspended Virgil van Dijk is an important loss for the Netherlands, who will struggle to deal with the movement and form of their hosts in Munich.

Germany have managed to see multiple role players like Deniz Undav come through in the absence of their usual stars, and the Dutch will feel the full force of that deep player pool.

Germany vs. Netherlands best bet

  • Pick: Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals
  • Odds: -120 (BetMGM)

These two teams have played some entertaining battles in recent years, and it figures that this game will be no different.

Each of the last six games between these two sides has seen both teams find the back of the net, and all but one — a 1-1 friendly draw back in March of 2022 — has gone over the 2.5 goal total. Germany especially play a high octane, run-and-gun style that has seen each of their last four games go over that threshold, while the Dutch have gone over that mark in four of their last five.

Germany don't look as if their attack is stunted in the absence of some of their biggest stars, and the Dutch missing a key defensive star who excels at stopping counter-attacks could only add to the chaos.

Germany vs. Netherlands prop bet

  • Pick: Deniz Undav anytime goal scorer
  • Odds: +138 (BetMGM)

Nobody has enjoyed a start to their international career quite like Deniz Undav, who has filled in for bigger-name stars admirably over the last few months. His first two international starts have seen him score two goals and assist another, and his production has gone even further beyond just those material contributions.

Against the Netherlands last month, Undav scored and assisted a goal on two shots and an enormous five chances created. Then against Bosnia & Herzegovina on Friday, he scored twice on four shots plus one chance created, having a hand in five of Germany's 12 total shots.

Getting plus odds on such an in-form goal scorer (Undav has four goals in six Bundesliga games for Stuttgart this season as well) is a gift, and while his creative juices can also flow in a match expected to be chaotic — you can get Undav to score and assist a goal for around +767 at FanDuel — backing him to simply find the net is enough.
