England take on Italy in UEFA Nations League Group A3 tonight at Molineux Stadium, with both sides seeking to put themselves in contention to win the group.

Gareth Southgate's Three Lions are seeking a first win of the campaign, however, they will be encouraged by their much-improved display away to Germany where they fought back from a one-goal deficit to claim a point.

The visitors also come into this match in an optimistic mood, following their impressive 2-1 victory over Hungary in midweek. The Azzurri currently top the group on four points and will be looking to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the pack ahead of the final round of international fixtures next week.

This should be an intriguing affair, as both England and Italy go into this match knowing that a win will do wonders for their hopes of winning the tournament. Of course, the hosts have the added benefit of these matches also being the ideal preparation for the FIFA World Cup group stages, something they will look to take advantage of against a skilled opponent.

Italy is once again looking to prove their credentials as one of the finest international sides in Europe all over again, after missing out on a place at the World Cup finals at the play-off stage. In a rematch between the winners and runners-up of the UEFA EURO 2020 final last year, expect plenty of goalmouth action as two footballing heavyweights get set to lock horns.

England vs. Italy predicted lineups

Kalvin Phillips is a major doubt for the game at Molineux, following his withdrawal from the stalemate away to Germany due to a dead leg. Phil Foden may be involved for England if he can return a negative COVID-19 test in the lead up to the match, whilst Gareth Southgate is also hopeful that James Justin can feature after a calf injury.

Fiyako Tomori may be sidelined for this one due to a hamstring problem, whilst Trent Alexander-Arnold has been sent home from camp to recuperate after a long season.

England predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale (GK) — James, Stones, Maguire, Trippier —  Rice, Bellingham, — Bowen, Mount, Grealish — Kane.

For the visitors, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Belotti have left the camp, meaning they won't be available for the trip to the West Midlands.

Alterations for Italy are likely, with Sandro Tonali vying with Bryan Cristante for a slot in the midfield engine room. Gianluca Scamacca may return to the fold after his impressive showing against Germany up top.

Italy predicted lineup (4-3-3): Donnarumma (GK) — Di Lorenzo, Mancini, Bastoni, Spinazzola — Locatelli, Tonali, Barella — Gnonto, Scamacca, Pellegrini.

England vs. Italy betting odds

In an evenly matched affair, both teams will be relying on a mixture of solid defensive work and being clinical in attack.

England will likely have more possession, though will come up against a stubborn Italian backline that has been in excellent form recently. In offence, Harry Kane will need to be at his best to grab himself a second goal from two games, whereas Gianluca Scamacca will be desperate to get off the mark for the visitors.
