Barcelona travel to Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday to take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie, with Xavi's men heralded by many as the favourites to claim the continental title.

The Catalan giants come into this game in fine fettle and are unbeaten in their past 13 fixtures, including an emphatic 4-0 drubbing of bitter rivals Real Madrid. Following a shaky start to their transitional period, the Blaugrana now look to be on their way to becoming a major footballing force once again and will be keen to cap off this campaign with some silverware.

They face a tricky opponent in Frankfurt, who will be keen to meet their own aspirations in Europe. Having already beaten the likes of Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis in 2021/22, they will fancy themselves to take a major scalp against Barca over the two legs.

Though Barca arrive into the crunch clash as considerable favourites, their Bundesliga opposition carry dangerous offensive weaponry that could lead to plenty of goals in this match.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Barcelona predicted lineups

For the hosts, young goalkeeper Diant Ramaj will be unavailable to provide cover after sustaining a knee injury.

Left-back Christopher Lenz is a major doubt to be involved in the matchday squad, as the 27-year-old attempts to recover from calf issues.

Daichi Kamada is fit and available to play, having returned to midfield action in the 0-0 draw at home to Greuther Fürth last weekend after shaking off a foot injury. Other than that, Oliver Glasner has a full squad available for the match.

Eintracht Frankfurt predicted lineup (3-4-2-1): Trapp (GK) — Hinteregger, Ndicka, Tuta — Jakic, Sow, Knauff, Kostic — Lindstrom, Kamada, — Borre.

Barcelona will be without veteran full-back Dani Alves for the trip to Germany, as the Brazilian is not registered to play in the Europa League.

Striker Luuk de Jong missed the win over Sevilla last week due to contracting COVID-19 and will need to provide a negative test in order to feature. Samuel Umtiti, Ansu Fati and Sergi Roberto remain out of contention, while Sergino Dest is a doubt to take part due to suffering from hamstring issues.

This could leave Barcelona in a predicament over the right-back position, potentially seeing Ronald Araujo move one over to fill the space and Eric Garcia coming in to central defence.

Barcelona predicted lineup (4-3-3): Ter Stegen (GK) —, Araujo, Pique, Garcia, Alba — Pedri, Busquets, De Jong — Dembele, Torres, Aubameyang.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Barcelona betting odds

This quarter-final is bound to be an entertaining one to watch for the neutral. Barcelona will be expected to dominate the play and will aim to feed the ball to their front three to cause damage to the opposition, mostly through the guile of teenage star Pedri.

Adama Traore may be one to watch following his electrifying start at the Camp Nou, while Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang will be hard to stop after his nine goals in 12 appearances since his move from Arsenal.

Frankfurt have plenty offensive quality of their own, which they will aim to use to put pressure on Barca's backline. Filip Kostic will be key to this, as his propensity to create openings has gained the 29-year-old 16 goal contributions in 2021/22.

If he is gifted time and space to deliver, Xavi's side could have their work cut out if they are to make it to the last four of the competition.
