The EFL Trophy is underway, featuring 48 clubs from League One and League Two - the third and fourth tiers of English football.
Sixteen Under-21 teams from Premier League clubs will also be involved as the group stage of the annual competition, called the Papa Johns Trophy for sponsorship reasons, begins.
Holders Rotherham United, who beat Sutton United 4-2 after extra-time in a dramatic final at Wembley Stadium in 2021/22, will not be defending their title because they have been promoted to the Championship since their triumph.
