"I hope there will be another hundred and another hundred coming," Thomas Tuchel said when he was asked about reaching a century of games in charge of Chelsea less than a week ago.

The manager who won the Champions League with the club during that run was in a far less upbeat mood after watching his players lose their first group-stage match of the season 1-0 at Dinamo Zagreb. The following morning, he was sacked.

Chelsea are widely thought to have been planning the end of Tuchel's reign long before abruptly ousting him, which may be part of the reason why Brighton boss Graham Potter was quickly recruited as the former Paris St-Germain coach's replacement.

Here's how to watch Potter's first match in charge as Chelsea aim to earn their first points of the Champions League season against RB Salzburg at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea vs. RB Salzburg predicted lineups

N'Golo Kante remains Chelsea's major absentee with a hamstring injury. Deadline day signing Denis Zakaria could play in Kante's defensive midfield role if he is given his debut, the Juventus loanee having been left on the bench in Croatia.

Tuchel admitted that Kepa Arrizabalaga had started against Zagreb partly to give Edouard Mendy a rest, although he also claimed that his regular number one was only fit for the bench because of a patella tendon issue.

Marc Cucurella was player of the season at Potter's former club, Brighton, last season, which could tempt the new manager to restore the £62 million signing to the starting lineup.

Chelsea predicted lineup (3-4-3): Kepa (GK) — Fofana, Silva, Koulibaly — James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Cucurella — Mount, Aubameyang, Sterling

Midfielders Mamady Diambou (ankle), Luka Sucic (groin) and Samson Tijani (leg) missed Salzburg's 3-0 win at Ried in the Austrian Bundesliga on Saturday, as did defenders Justin Omoregie (thigh), Oumar Solet (thigh) and Max Wober (adductor).

Forward Sekou Koita and defender Kamil Piatkowski did not feature in the 1-1 Champions League draw at home to AC Milan on Tuesday but returned to training afterwards and may have been rested at Ried as a precaution.

RB Salzburg predicted lineup (4-3-3): Kohn (GK) — Dedic, Bernardo, Pavlovic, Ulmer — Capaldo, Seiwald, Kjaergaard — Kameri, Adamu, Fernando

Chelsea vs. RB Salzburg betting odds

Despite their uneven start to the season, Chelsea would have a perfect record from their three home games but for a 96th-minute Harry Kane equaliser for Tottenham on August 14.

They were impressive at Stamford Bridge in the 2021/22 Champions League group stage, scoring nine without reply across three victories, but Salzburg are dangerous opponents and temptingly priced after winning seven out of eight games - losing the other - to go three points clear in Austria.

Matthias Jaissle's side took the lead against Milan and retained their unbeaten record in Matchday 1 matches while only having 34 percent of possession. Salzburg are looking to end a run of five Champions League away matches without a win from the group stage onwards, losing four of those games.
